Stepan Shakaryan

Famous jazz and classical composer Stepan Shakaryan likes to say that he was born in Airplane, because he knows many cultures and has different nations' classical and jazz compositions. He is the only Armenian student of Aram Khachatryan.

Kim Il-sung

There are over 500 statues of Kim Il-sung in North Korea. It is claimed that it is traditional for North Korean newlyweds, immediately after their wedding, to go to the nearest statue of Kim Il-sung and lay flowers at his feet.

Paul Robert Ignatius

Ignatius served as Secretary of the Navy between 1967 and 1969. On May 23, 2013, the Navy announced that an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, USS Paul Ignatius (DDG-117) would be named for him.

PARUYR SEVAK

It always comes by roads uncharted and unmapped,

Like water falling during rain or spring-time thaw,
That’s love.

Komitas

The expert on Armenian songs thought the trees were bandits on the attack and continually hid his head under the hem of my overcoat, like a fearful partridge. He begged me to say a blessing for him ["The Savior"] in the hope that it would calm him.

Vyacheslav Ivankov (yaponchik)

Ivankov arrived in the United States in March 1992, despite having served a prison sentence of around ten years and a reputation as one of the fiercest and one of the most brutal criminals in Russia.
